    The Civil Court in Godda is a subordinate court which was established on 26-04-1986 carving out from the Dumka Judgeship, shortly after the district of Godda was created in 1983. The Godda Judgeship has its jurisdiction over the Godda district, which is located in the Santhal Pargana division of Jharkhand. Over the years, the Godda Judgeship has played an important role in dispensing justice to the people of the district in accordance with law. The court has heard a number of high-profile cases, including cases related to land disputes, criminal offenses, family disputes etc. Since its inception, Godda Judgeship has played a significant role in the administration of justice in the district.

    Godda district is located in the Santhal Parganas division of the Jharkhand State. The district is situated in the northeastern part of the Jharkhand and shares its borders with the state of Bihar on the north and east, and districts of Dumka and Deoghar on the west and south respectively. The district is known for its production of paddy, wheat, maize and vegetables. The district also has a significant numbers of coal reserves (the Rajmahal coalfield in Lalmatia) and coal mining is an important industry in the area which has attracted major power distribution companies in the district like Adani Power.
    The district is well-connected by road and rail, with the National Highway 133 passing through the district. The district headquarter is a major town and a commercial centre along with its sub-division Mahagama and other blocks.
    The district is also home to several tourist attractions, including the Maa Yogani Sakati Pith, Manokamna Hill in Lakhanpahari, the Singhwahini Temple, the Damakol Waterfall in Sunderpahari, the Rajmahal coalfield in Lalmatia and the Sunder Dam. The district administration has taken several initiatives to promote tourism in the area and develop the necessary infrastructure to support it.
